Spaghetti Soup

Something about fall makes me want to eat soup three times a day...so here's one of my favorite recipes for tomato soup.

Spaghetti Soup

1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, pressed
2 T butter
1 can chicken broth (or veggie if you desire no meat)
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cans tomato soup
½ t dried basil
½ c spaghetti (broken bits and pieces), if desired
½ t baking soda
1 ½ c milk

Melt butter and sauté onion and garlic. Add broth, tomatoes, soup, basil and spaghetti if desired. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until noodles are tender. Just before serving, add soda. Stir well to reduce froth. Gradually add milk while stirring. Heat well, but do not boil. Serve hot with grilled cheese sandwiches.
